Liberal Mass Meeting Forms Committee For Baltimore Nomination Rally

Taromeny Hall hosts a liberal mass meeting where an organizing committee is named to arrange a September 12 rally endorsing Baltimore Convention nominations. The event occurs a week after Syracuse. The Yellow Fever Ship Nu mancua reports three victims buried at the quarantine cemetery as health controls tighten. Minister Nelson will not return permanently this month but will visit the United States in September and plan to return in a month or two. Discharged.

Sale of Middle Park Stud at Eltham Farms in England

Miners Attacked Crossing from Contintenal Colliery

In Pottsville at 2 a m six miners from Continental colliery near Centralia were ambushed on both sides of the railroad. John Webster died after being shot seven times. George W. Dawes was wounded near the heart while four others were lightly hurt. Tracks found in wounds. Most escaped to the engine-house. attackers fled. Jealousy among miners is blamed for the assault. The men had been moved from an older mine to Continental.

Granite State excursionists tour Maine by steamer and train

The Granite State with the Bay State party sailed from Boothbay at 11 this morning and reached Bath at 8 PM after a half hour stop. It then went up the Kennebec to Gardiner at 6 PM and took a special train to Augusta for a Germania Band concert. They return at 219 o'clock tomorrow to Bath and give a concert there Thursday evening before heading home via Portland.

Drowning Incidents Reported in Oldtown and Cedar Grove

A man named Parady of Oldtown drowned at the Argyle boom this forenoon after falling between logs he was working on. His body was recovered and taken to Old Town for interment. In Providence R I, Aug 14 William Lee aged 50 was drowned near Cedar Grove last night and body recovered this morning.
