Peter Casey, 34, homeless, charged with a murderous assault on Mrs. Joseph E. A. Doherty at 19 Humboldt Park Dorchester and the theft of $4. Doherty, attacked around 9 p.m., was found bruised and in shock after a struggle. Casey was arrested after midnight and held at Station 9.

Samuel E. Palmer, a Dunworsted mill weaver in Woonsocket Rhode Island, is set to inherit nearly $20,000 from a boyhood friend in the West. A long treasured package contained bank books that, upon the friend's death, enabled Palmer to become sole heir under a valid will. A court claim is under way to settle the estate and its value.
