Norcross Bros of Worcester employing 400 quarry men near here threaten removal unless traffic near their quarry is halted. Dozens of unlicensed outlets and Sunday selling are common. The Business Men's association will act immediately and selectmen will grant more licenses.
In Lake Pleasant Massachusetts on August 10 services included addresses by J. Clegg Wright of Philadelphia Dean Clark of California and Maud E Lord of Boston. The program offered a general review of the societies work over the past year and reports on the present outlook.
Winthrop Missouri August 10 Ansel W Wentworth of Hiram was arrested for entering the Banner office. A preliminary trial this afternoon held him for the grand jury. He is tied to a series of state robberies, notably post offices. Wentworth was sent to Augusta jail.
In Guano Rapids Michigan on August 10 John Fox and Fred Schurer fell seventy feet when their scaffold slipped while painting the Second Street Methodist church clock dial. Fox was killed instantly and Schurer died at noon.

In Gettysburg Pennsylvania Gen S S Burdett commander in chief and J C Linehan department commander of New Hampshire arrived. Veterans posts marched in review and addressed the idea of a Grant monument funded by 10 cent subscriptions from each member, potentially raising about 30000 dollars.
In Pawtuxet Lucy Anna Sweet aged VV years and Crawford Allen Smith aged 21 from Smithfield drowned while bathing. Jason A Read rescued a boy Ernest Eldred at Westerly but sank while guiding him to shore and died. The steamer Empire State grounded at Provincetown town dock during extreme low tide causing a three hour delay. No damage occurred and she resumed sailing at 6 30 P M. Chartered by the Odd Fellows of Lowell she carried a thousand passengers. She arrived safely at the dock between 11 and 12 o'clock Monday night.
Boston Odd Fellows celebrated the reinstitution of Commercial Lodge No 97. Lodges marched to Atlantic avenue then Crescent beach where D A Clark presided at dinner and W K Ripley delivered an oration. The group returned by 3 p m and attended a minstrel show at the Boston theatre in the evening.
Milwaukee Aug 16 The Wisconsin high license law raising minimum saloon licenses from 75 to 200 has been in force three months. Reports from 100 towns show 267 fewer saloons and annual revenue up 224000 dollars from last year.
James H. Conners lured Charles H. Stratton into an unoccupied building, seized him by the throat, and robbed him of 85 dollars and a revolver. Stratton escaped but was recaptured after a long chase, the money found on Conners, who discarded the revolver during the pursuit and it was recovered by police.
In Shelbyville Illinois a bridge over Noble's Creek collapsed under a farm engine pulled by two horses. Noah Friesker and another man were thrown into the creek and killed along with the horses. The accident occurred today and the victims were removed from the wreckage.

A major blaze at the Lewis Wharf corporation storage block on Lewis Wharf began 2:25 PM Monday.
