Changes at the Custom House Praised by Advertiser

The Advertiser applauds the new collector's reforms at the custom house noting few removals and most vacancies filled by promotion. It argues the system works and wonders why law cannot adopt the voluntary practice as the standard method. The piece also questions critics of Mr Worthington's appointment while acknowledging progress and differing views from Mr Hoar.

Skookawahominy tribute and eddying humor in verse
