Hartford man confesses to burning hotels and more

Bernard C. Murray of Hartford Connecticut admits guilt for a string of fires this year including Waterbury City Hall. Under questioning by Greenfield police chief Thomas Manning he confessed to setting fires to about fifty dwellings barns and hotels. Estimated total loss reaches one million dollars.

Morrill and his wife were aboard the Nirvana when he disappeared into the water after being awakened on deck. His wife found herself without oars as she attempted to launch a tender, then heard him cry out and sink. Harbor police conducted morning searches but lacked a body.

Professor Charley Hopps famed for death defying stunts fell 200 feet from a dirigible balloon over Woburn last night. He was rescued semi conscious and treated for cuts and a severe shaking, narrowly escaping injury.

Night flight ends in crash near Malden

Hopps launched a secret nocturnal dirigible from Melrose toward Springfield at 8:30 pm. A faulty check card caused escaping gas but he avoided the safety valve and parachuted ballast as the craft descended, crashing in a Medford pasture about 200 feet up. He survived and returned home by car.
