Den Motor Boat Turrets in Speed Trial Accident
At Bridgeport Connecticut on August 8 the motor boat Den owned by Charles E F Herreshoff turned turtle after a rudder chain failure during a speed trial. Frederick Bates, a non swimmer machinist, nearly drowned before rescue by the launch Alice. Herreshoff was saved and the craft was towed ashore with minor damage.

Lad Crushed By Tunnel Car In East Boston Tragedy
Eleven year old Harry Freedman of 187 Paris Street East Boston was crushed when he slipped from the rear step of a tunnel car bound for Chelsea. His left arm was severed and he was taken from beneath the car near 58 Meridian Street, last evening.
