Mob in pursuit of alleged slugger ends with arrest
A hatless man dubbed Jack the Slugger fled down West Dedham street chased by a mob after a woman was killed. Patrolmen Buckley and Wright captured him near Shawmut avenue as hundreds mobbed the scene and tried to attack officers at Dedham street station. The prisoner, William R. Convy, 32, homeless, was booked for alleged assault. Witness J C Graham linked the suspect to the attack on a young woman who later claimed her husband had assaulted her before.

Explosion in Trinidad Mine Kills Sixteen Workers
