The schooner George L P Trigg from New York for Eastport sprung a leak about twenty eight miles northeast of Cape Cod light. The captain and crew were taken aboard a steamer and the vessel was towed toward Provincetown as the water rose. The Trigg’s crew reported continued flooding and efforts to bring the schooner in for repairs. In Gloucester a schooner was struck by lightning, losing its mainmast but returning for repairs. A steamer Circassia arrived in New York from Glasgow.
