MISS VINING ON SERVANTS
Hull August 6 The problem of the day is the servant question says Florette Vining in an editorial in her south shore paper. There is not a general house wife girl in the market half of my friends are doing their own work with their houses full of guests. By the time you think breakfast should be ready you find that the servant is still in bed and not a fire is made well up to the time that your husband is to take the boat. Servants think their master to blame for all things and particularly in regard to the foreign letters expected from their sweethearts. They look upon you as their little world around which all things revolve their vows bickerings and misunderstandings are for you to settle and no matter how occupied you are you must stop all and settle the misunderstanding perhaps to discharge all and then your life is made happy by visiting an intelligence office and repeating this until the end of time. The whole laboring class has but one object and that is to take their pay Saturday nights and then proceed to enjoy themselves over the Sunday. Had I a large payroll Tuesday or Wednesday would be my day to pay.
