President Harding and Secretary Weeks host a golfing party at Mt. Prospect in Lancaster New Hampshire. Weeks holds a silver cup set to be contested by the group while the visit continues.
President Harding descended from the mountain to greet residents of Lancaster N Hy in the home town of Secretary of War Weeks. He spoke of his reverent and affectionate regard for their townsman and the Weeks family long rooted in the area.
Mr. Harding voiced hope for world peace and noted global faith in America. He stated the governor is bringing peoples of the world face to face through their efforts.
An unidentified about nineteen year old girl leaped from the Niagara River brink above the American falls and was swept over the gorge. Several women spectators fainted as the tragedy unfolded in Niagara Falls New York on August 4.
A fashion show at the Commodore Hotel drew over 1500 spectators who welcomed hoop skirts and 1890s effects with lively applause. Attendees ignored subway and crowd car hassles as the revival appeared popular among both men and women.

Brittain former president of the Canadian Fisheries Association warned that passage of the Fordney tariff bill imposing a fish duty will stir up Canadian fishermen to press the Dominion government to revoke privileges granted to American fishing vessels in Canadian ports. He said the move affects Boston and Gloucester interests employing sailing vessels in the fisheries and relying on Canadian ports for crews and bait.

Harry Shanley V C formerly of Albany N Y survivor of a renowned Canadian regiment holds the highest honors from France and Britain. He will be examined by Massachusetts surgeons who will explain how an exploding shell made a head wound from ear to ear yet left him alive and able to function.
Armand T. Gaudreau of 195 Ash Street Lewiston Maine a college graduate in cap and gown sells newspapers on the street to earn a living. The scene drew attention as the bachelor of arts and sciences walked the Lewiston streets last night selling papers to survive.

Cornelius J Callahan 17 of Roxbury was pulled from Savin Hill Beach waters by Fred Lindstrom and John Healy after he exhausted while swimming with Patrick Dynan. Callahan is in City Hospital in favorable condition. Dynan, also tired, could not help.
Mildred Armstrong and her unbetrothed George Hauser flew to Mineola Field in an airplane. Pilot Richard Dewey described altitude moments where Armstrong hesitated then accepted a ring as Hauser pressed for a proposal. Mary Bucclo a 16 year old of 1008 Saratoga Street East Boston fired a .82 caliber revolver into her right shoulder in her home after a harsh rebuke. She was taken to Fast Boston Relief Hospital where Dr. Simpson removed the bullet. She refused to state the motive, her parents saying they think it was to gain sympathy following the scolding.
The American League saw Chica beat Boston 5 4 and Washington edge Cleveland 3 1 in the first game while Detroit 8 New St. Louis 7 and Philadelphia 5 provided other results.
