Burglary Suspect Caught After Year-Long Manhunt

John Murphy was arrested on a burglary charge after a yearlong manhunt. The scheme involved June 27 1885 thefts from William T. Noyes 47 Mt Vernon St and Mary W Smith Bowdoin Square with valuables totaling 63 180 and 118 dollars respectively. Most property was recovered and Murphy was seized at Beach and Washington streets this morning.

Rowing Match Arrangements Set for England Trip

W J Innes reports arrangements completed for a rowing match between William Beach and Jacob Gaudaur with funds guaranteed. Gaudaur and Hamm visited the custom house seeking rebates on their boats if returned. They plan to sail for England next Thursday.

Schooner Captain Drowns at Warren Bridge

Captain Edward Leslie of the schooner Souvé pir from Spry Bay Nova Scotia fell through a pier hole at Warren bridge and drowned. Edward O'Brien witnessed the fall and attempted rescue but failed. Leslie leaves a widow and two children in Spry Bay.

Illumination at Revere Beach Draws Crowds in Chill Weather

A second annual Revere Beach illumination drew large crowds despite cold air and winter attire.
