Abial Shurtleff injured in Barton landing accident

An 80 year old man, Abial Shurtleff, was rammed at Barton landing while crossing the track. He has a severed foot and remains in critical condition. A Vermont note reports an 8000 dollar house and barn fire at Randolph pursued by an adopted daughter’s confession of setting it. Vermont crops report hay and potatoes in good yield prospects. corn later in the season with a full yield unlikely this year.

A man in Marlboro assaulted a child and fled after payroll theft. A tree wide elm in Newburyport was cut for firewood. a Fall River officer absconded with funds. A bridge between Groveland and Haverhill opened after tests. A Berkshire donor funded a Berkshire fund for the Boston Eye and Ear infirmary with oversight for Berkshire patients.

Small Fires in City and Suburbs

An alarm from box 13 Chelsea at 6 45 A M Thursday was for a fire in the upper story of the Cunningham heirs building at Marginal and Hawthorn streets. Occupied by Fitzpatrick and Noonan for furniture manufacture the loss is about 6000 with building damage of about 200. Both parties are insured. The fire is thought due to an overheated shaft and smoldering all night.
