Beecher Defence Is Expected As Explanations Emerge

The Brooklyn Eagle notes Beecher plans to publish explanations of each charge rather than a formal written defense. It contrasts Tilton’s claims about impropriety with Beecher’s account of a 1870 confession, its alleged coercion, and a disputed apology written by Moulton. The piece suggests Beecher’s forthcoming statements will address all charges and be welcomed by investigators.
