A military drill led by Captain Landon opened the program with steady precision followed by short wands and parallel bars. Aesthetic movements by Miss Houghton and a wooden dumbbell drill by Miss Whitney were orderly. German horse movements impressed. Mr Lathrop assisted. a three foot running jump set a mark. Indian club swinging and Dancing Calesthenics followed, then Bounding Balls led by Miss West, ending with Danza Espanola. About 1200 people attended including Harvard faculty.
Racing at Medford Sparks Mass Support at Mystic Park
In Medford Mass this afternoon Somerville residents filled Mystic Park to watch swift horses race. Hessie K. dominated the 3:00 pace trot, winning easily while Josie B. was favored in the free for all and, despite losing the second heat, won the third and fourth heats, drawing great enthusiasm from supporters.
