Pilgrim Society Banquet Honors Breckinridge and Pilgrims
A grand Pilgrim celebration in Worcester featured Governor Long, ex-Governor Breckinridge, and noted figures amid a tented gathering. Speeches praised the Pilgrims, a lanterned procession of orators, and a later armory ball. The program included poems, hymns, libations, and a final choir performance.
Monument Dedication by Masonic Grand Lodge with Temple Quartet
At the monument dedication on Aug 1, crowds gathered as Battery A fired a salute and bells rang. The Masonic Grand Lodge conducted rites, opening with Carter's Band, then a choral by John R. Paine and a hymn by R W Thomas Power with music by William H. Gerrish. The Temple Quartet taught the fervent song Hark Hark to the voices exalted.
