In Maupen on August 1, Michael Delehans Patrick Delehans and John Doherty are held in 1000 bail each for trial on August 13 for assaulting Policeman James C Foley and stabbing him seven times. New York reports a sixteen year old wife, Mrs Lillie Schlimmer, slain by her young husband in Jersey City. The couple wed without parental consent and she refused to leave home. He shot her as she walked with her grandmother and was arrested.
Burglars entered the Hardwick House hotel in Hardwick owners Mrs. E. F. King and drilled a safe hole stealing 300 dollars cash her gold watch and chain and a large quantity of jewelry Also the nearby Alva Knight store was broken into with stamps and a small amount of money taken Experts are suspected indicating skilled criminals.
