Drowned Man Found in East River Linked to Mutual Aid Badge

A 21 year old man was found dead in the East River. A plate on his clothing bore the number 1114 and the Boston Mutual Aid Association badge. Arthur Bitt of 78 Forbes Street Jamaica Plain was named as the badge holder. Mrs. Fletcher recalled Hill as a former switchman who boarded with her and left his Elevated Company job about ten months ago claiming to join the navy. Death cause remains undetermined whether suicide murder or accident.

Sergeant O'Connell Shot Down on Chicago Viaduct

Chicago April 29 Desk Sergeant Timothy S. O'Connell of Woodlawn station was killed on the Eighteenth Street viaduct. His revolver remained in his hand and a suspect hat was found nearby. James Santa was arrested two hours later as a possible accomplice after being found hatless. Police believe a robbery attempt led to the fatal shooting while the sergeant wore civilian clothes.

Officers arrested R E C Dodge of 31 Saxton street for illegal liquor sales at 1876 Dorchester avenue. A decomposed body, about 35, 6 feet 8 inches, found near the Charles River draw, taken to North Grove morgue. Fire destroyed four wooden shops at Huntington avenue and Francis street, loss about 1000. A monkey incident involving John Rogers ends with his finger treated at the Emergency Hospital. Samuel Seel of 469 Albany street was knocked from his bicycle by an electric car at Tremont and Waltham streets, spraining his right leg and side.

Bicycle crash preceded death by lockjaw in Salem

John H. Barry aged 18 died this afternoon in Salem after being severely injured in an April 8 bicycle collision with an electric car. Lockjaw developed following the accident.

Gloucester Man Reappears After Eighteen Years

Howard A. Saville, long claimed dead, arrived in Gloucester after an 18 year absence and identified by his sister Mrs. Dolliver and his former wife Mrs. Kinsman. He left for Boston on the 4 58 train. Saville, about 63, may have a New York estate claim of up to 50000 from Captain Richardson. He reportedly has interests in a Little Rock dry goods house and a western Arkansas ranch.

Newman Scherzer, son of Mrs. E. B. Scherzer of St. Louis, shares a large Alaska house at Maton Reindeer station with Dr. Gambell, a government superintendent.
