Fire at Dorchester Street Catholic Church Damages Interior

Alarm at 10 30 last evening reported a fire in the basement of the Dorchester Street Catholic Church in Dorchester Lower Mills. Charles Gibson found the blaze rising from the coal bin to the organ loft before the fire department arrived. Much woodwork was damaged and the loss is estimated at 500 dollars. The origin is a mystery with a witness claiming lightning struck the steeple. The church, built ten years ago with a steeple added three years ago, is insured for 30,000 dollars in four companies.
