Post office inspectors probe the disappearance of $8000 mailed from New London Conn by the New London National City Bank to the First National Bank of Boston a week ago. The package never arrived at its destination.
After three clerks receipted the money at the New London central postoffice the funds vanished. J R Lathman of the New London bank confirmed the loss by phone. insurance covered the bank. President Wing of the First National Bank said a money package was missing. The $10 and $20 bills were mailed April 20 at 4 30 p m. Detectives have questioned all clerks with no clue found.
A dinner welcoming the ship and its crew featured leaders urging Boston waterfront growth.
