An exchange of insults between Alderman Curley and Ward 17 Councilman Joyce in the committee on public improvements nearly led to a fight. Alderman Cotton restrained Curley before he could strike Joyce, as the two former friends became bitter foes.
Joyce appeared before the committee on public improvements after an attack on Alderman Curley two weeks earlier. The issue involved reopening the hearing on a slaughter house license for Marks Angel at 16 Mall Street Ward 17. Joyce alleged Curley was Angel’s silent partner, while Curley denied any connection or involvement with the petition.
Duncan Neal 31 from Scotland arrived on the Numidian and went to his wife and two children at 3 Newbern street Jamaica Plain. While boarding a moving car in Keany square at 735 pm he slipped struck an elevated railroad upright and suffered a fractured skull. He was taken to Relief Hospital and is expected to recover.

Washington April 27 President Roosevelts four battleship programme failed in the Senate after a House rejection. An amendment for four battleships, led by Senator Beveridge and backed by Senator Piles, drew 23 votes, while 50 Senators backed the House plan for only two battleships. Senator Lodge supported the amendment and Senator Crane opposed it.
The three day debate on the battleship amendment kept all other issues off the floor. Senator Beveridge opened with an eloquent plea for presidential support and urged backing of the proposal.
Patrick Ashe, a guard, fell between cars near Scollay Square while an elevated train ran between Scollay Square and Park Street. An unknown man pulled the bell rope to stop the motorman. Ashe, treated at Relief Hospital, escaped with a scalp wound and bruises.

Some were paid for and left with the firm though not recorded, with boxes listing mainly risky or unborrowed items. McIntyre travels for health. lawyers expect suits to recover fully paid securities.
