Turbulent Senate Debates and Civil War Outlook at Albany

The Boston Post reports Senate resolutions thanking Maryland for aid to injured Massachusetts soldiers in Baltimore, a public charity reform bill, and a Suffolk Horse Railroad measure. It notes House Republicans disagree on fraud charges, tax exemptions for government notes, and adjournment plans as battles loom at Corinth and Yorktown. The piece previews McClellan’s position, McDowell’s flank move, Banks toward Richmond, and potential international shifts if Union victories occur. It warns of hard fighting ahead and criticizes a proposed public records bill raising fees, urging Massachusetts to oppose it.
