Hartwell S Pettes a longtime Cambridge Chronicle advertising solicitor shot himself in the head last evening after being discharged Saturday. Brakeman Fred Curtis Killed by Freight Train Near Brighton Station

Fred Curtis, a brakeman on the Chicago express due in Boston at 9 05, was fatally injured near the Albany line Brighton station last evening about 9 o clock. He leaned to flag a freight when struck by a switch arm, the freight passing over him. He died instantly and his family, including a wife and child, were notified by telegram.
