Shipping News Almanac an April 25 High Water Record

Shipping news from Boston harbor lists arrivals and clearrd steamers and brigs to various ports, with cargoes including sugar, molasses, logwood, and passengers. Multiple vessels from Philadelphia, New York, and Nova Scotia are noted, with conditions described as southerly winds and generally fair weather during passage.

Market summary notes muted shipcharter activity and steady rates

In New York on April 24 the market showed little movement despite a generally liberal trend. Grain remains costly for shipment and petroleum and cotton activity limits free trade. Charters include Storken from New York to Port Natal and Rosenius to the Baltic with 3000 barrels of refined petroleum, 283d. In Baltimore on the same date coal charters listed Bertha F Walker at 95 cents and Samuel H Walker at 115 dollars, both to Boston, and Lydia M Deering to Portsmouth at 95 cents.
