The secretary’s report noted fifteen new local assemblies formed in the past quarter. Plans urged all local assemblies to attend Labor Day events and a committee was formed to arrange. Discussion focused on discharge and suspension of city employees and a committee was appointed to meet with the Mayor to protest further layoffs of workers.

Patrolman Robinson Dies of Heart Disease at 65

Isaiah S. Robinson, a patrolman attached to Division 2, died yesterday morning at his home 40 Poplar Street of heart disease after a period of illness. A native of Gilmanton Iron Works New Hampshire he was 65. Appointed July 5 1872 he served in Division 9 and was transferred to Station 2 in 1873. He was single and reportedly left substantial property.

Forest Fire Report Downplays Winnipeg Damage

April 22 It is denied that forest fires south of Winnipeg are as serious as earlier sensational reports suggested. A special train arriving tonight says chief damage is the loss of 60 000 ties.
