Don Alphonso, brother of Don Carlos, has been formally barred from approaching Spain’s frontier by French authorities and urged to relocate to Switzerland. Panic spreads in Pampeuana as Don Carlos pledges to appear there soon. reinforcements and volunteers mobilize. Don Carlos is said to be at Annecy en route to Spain.
