Richmond spy captured near Eastville with letters and weapons
A Richmond spy was captured on the 18th near Eastville. He carried a revolver but was captured or killed as others pursued. Fifty three prisoners from Point Lookout took the oath and were sent to work in the Quartermaster's department. A large number of sick were sent to Hampton hospital from Yorktown.

Disaster at Plymouth ram attack sinks Southfield
Washington reports a rebel ram attacked near Plymouth North Carolina in the early hours. The Southfield sank within five minutes after being struck by shell fragments from the ram. Miami sustained injuries and Lt. Commander Flusser was killed by the shell impact. The ram, 150 feet long, passed Plymouth unseen.

Rock Island Bridge Destroyed By Fire On Airline Route
The railroad bridge at Rock Island on the Chicago and Dixon Airline burned last night causing a loss of ten thousand dollars. Travel remains unimpeded. In Trenton New Jersey a large meeting was held to discuss state railroad policy. Resolutions endorsed the Legislature’s action condemning the Delaware and Raritan Bay scheme and pledging state resources to suppress the rebellion.
