Commissioner seeks injunction against Masons Fraternal Accident Assoc
Massachusetts Insurance Commissioner Frederick W. Rutting announced from his Chelsea home that after investigation he deemed injunction necessary to restrain the Masons Fraternal Accident Association from doing business. He outlined that assets total about $15,000 with $13,000 to $14,000 deposited with the State treasurer and that claims and liabilities are under review. The association, dating to 1837 with statewide membership, plans to contest the receiver appointment and insists it is solvent despite a drop in membership since last November.
