A weather drenched Boston Easter, with bright sun for a few hours yet a stormy afternoon, disrupted the Easter display. Trinity Church showed mild turnout while many outfits featured foreign designs and extensive plumage as Copley square lit up with color.
The event runs twenty five miles from Ashland to the B. A. A. clubhouse on Exeter street. One hundred forty seven contestants start at noon one mile beyond Ashland with about 250000 spectators watching. Finish is at the clubhouse around 2 30 pm. The course record is 2 24 24 set by Thomas Longboat of Hamilton Ontario in 1907.
Today at noon 147 top American long-distance runners line up a mile beyond Ashland station for a 25 mile run to the B A A clubhouse on Exeter street. It is the largest field ever started in a B A A Marathon and may be the hardest race on the famed course. This event also serves as the official tryout for the Olympic Marathon in England this summer.
An Italian squadron led by Admiral I. Grenot sails from Rome likely tomorrow with 11 warships including the Regina Elena under the Duke of the Abruzzi. The fleet, carrying 5095 men, aims for Asia Minor about 700 miles away and may seize a small island if needed to press demands on Turkey.
The dispute stems from Turkey denying Italian post offices on its soil while other nations operate there. Irritation grows over the Italian missionary murder in Tripoli and Ottoman persecution of locals selling land to Italians. Italy argues the post office question justifies action, with powers said to approve backing force if needed.

In Brighton Chestnut Hill an auto hit a tele graph pole killing William Gallagher 24 Malden. Joseph Shine 22 Malden died after a chest injury while William Flynn 26 Malden injured. May McIntosh 23 Watertown was run down by F O Thompson of Harvard. Thompson held on $5000 bond. Shine and Gallagher worked for local employers.
Miss May McIntosh of 8 Oliver road was struck by a car owned and driven by F O Thompson a Harvard student about 945 Sunday evening at Adams and Mt Vernon streets She died later at Cambridge Hospital Thompson is under arrest The victim a Cape Breton native about 30 years old was to be married this fall and has a Roxbury sister and a cousin James McIntosh a restaurant waiter in Harvard Square

Henry Chadwick known as the father of baseball is reported dying at his Brooklyn home. He is 83 years old, suffering from pneumonia and heart trouble. Born in England, he came to the United States as a youth and wrote extensively on baseball and other pastimes, an authority on the rules of the game.

A chaotic stampede at a church service ended without serious injuries as Pastor intervened to calm worshippers. Police say the event occurred during a chaotic moment but no one was badly hurt and the crowd dispersed safely.
In Lowell on April 19 hundreds of parishioners at St. Jeanne de Baptiste Church on Merrimac Street panicked during high mass when a small fire from the altar flames alarmed the congregation. A woman cries of fire sparked a rush to the aisles as women and children were jostled and three girls fainted in the stampede.
Father Campeau quickly controlled a palm tree fire sparked by altar candles. The organ resumed as parishioners returned to seats. a young woman was revived in the rectory. Fire crews arrived to find only kneeling worshipers and dispersed onlookers.
The body of an unknown man possibly Atkinson Gregg was found in a room at the Nashville House on Cambridge Street yesterday afternoon. He had been lodging there since April 18.
