Berlin reports no ground gained as German forces renew efforts under reinforced British lines and French reserves. The French army stiffens defenses while British troops maintain firm hold despite repeated assaults.
The president designates April 26 as Liberty Day, while Boston's loan total reaches 20 million dollars and New England adds 9 million to the quota. The announcement emphasizes national unity and financial support across regions.
Nine million dollars were added to New England subscriptions on the ninth day of the Third Liberty Loan campaign. A daily average of this amount would reach the six states' quota, though gross oversubscription remains unlikely. New England’s total stands at 100,209,000. Secretary Daniels visits Boston with address at Symphony Hall and a parade planned to spur bond sales as the committee eyes a record Friday-Saturday sales surge.
Fierce front fighting by New England troops of the 104th produced the regiment’s heaviest casualties in daily War Department reports. Among yesterday’s listed casualties many were Greater Boston soldiers, with E Company 104th notably hard pressed by German forces.

Former Boston mayor James M. Curley told St. Peter's Court at Ellison Encampment Hall in Dorchester last night that Ireland should receive conscription to ensure home rule. He argued home rule should mirror Canada and Australia and blamed the Lords for blocking progress despite British support.
