Burleson officials promise a decision by May 10 if operators return to work and discuss a wage schedule with the general manager. The mayor heads to Washington to press the issue while Burleson city lines remain dead and operators debate the proposal.
Fire aboard the transport Patricia, set by a German officer, endangered nearly 3000 homebound YD men miles from port. The ship reached Boston amid cheering escorts as the sixth transport Winifredian neared, with battleship New Jersey due next Tuesday.
President Wilson held multiple talks including with Frank P. Walsh of Kansas City, chair of the Friends of Irish Freedom delegation, pressing Ireland’s recognition claims before the peace conference.
Reported in informed circles that President Wilson testified he had not brought up Ireland’s claims to the peace conference and, as U S president, could not introduce the issue himself.
Private houses along the parade route seek windows to shelter aged men and women for the event. The Family Hospitality Committee notes high demand as residents offer openings for the procession day.

Miss Georgie Meader, 17, was shot and killed while with Arthur Ellis, 38, who then shot himself. Police suspect murder and attempted suicide, though Ellis claimed the girl shot herself. Two bullets struck Meader and Ellis wounded himself in the stomach.
Private advices to the White House from Paris say plans for the President's return to the United States remain indefinite. Paris reports that April 27 or 28 were tentative sailing dates are unfounded. The message notes continued satisfactory progress at the peace conference.
