National Fire Underwriters Meet Recommends Board Revival

The sixth annual meeting of the National Board of Fire Underwriters reports 1871 premiums totaling 39 902 720 and losses 3 411 669. It cites the Chicago disaster loss at 118 000 000 and urges reviving the board by shifting votes to local boards, reorganizing the Executive Committee, reducing it from 50 to 7, and placing a single capable head officer with power to recruit trusted assistants. It calls member companies to require agents as coal board members and empower the committee to enforce this pledge.
