Ks Driver says the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company will hire strikebreakers today to resume Boston and New England telephone service, which was halted by yesterday’s operator strike. Efforts continue for an amicable settlement with Tumulty joining the mediation after a telegram from Governorsto President Wilson.
Inside telephone repair men across Boston and New England vote to strike at noon after a unanimous Boston Local 142 meeting. The union sent an ultimatum to William R. Driver Jr. of the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company demanding settlement before noon. failure to settle will halt work for thousands of employees.
Paris April 15 The council of four invited Germany to send representatives to the peace congress in Versailles on April 25. No reply by tonight. German delegation expected around April 24. The mission may total about 200 persons and will stay at the Hotel des Reservoirs.
