Local Legislature Pushes Oversight of Fee System
The lower House moved to create a joint eight member House and three member Senate committee to investigate the county fee system during recess, rejecting a comptroller led probe. The 2 cents a mile railroad fare bill gained a narrow victory as western and Democratic factions pushed it forward. Metropolitan affairs reports include boulevard funding and park commission duties. A pension reform for Boston police officers seeks a $600 maximum, replacing half pay.
