Providence April 14 The Greenville Woollen mill at Smithfield eight miles from Providence burned last night along with the boiler house and a five tenement block. The stone four and a half story mill held five sets of machinery. Total loss about 75000 with buildings and machinery insured for 46250 and stock insured for 15085. Tenants escaped with few objects saved and rebuilding expected at once.

New England Conference Raises Funds for Freedmen and Orphanage

Northampton Mass April 14 The New England conference approved $4000 to be raised for the freedmen and authorized trustees to receive funds to invest for an orphanage. A $102 testimonial was presented to Dr Rogers by the North Boston district for his years of service.

A New Iberia special reports a violent storm causing widespread destruction on Wednesday night. About 1,500 people in Iberia parish are homeless. crops and stock losses are immense. Teche flood reached nearly seven feet above tide at the east side from Loreauville to Pattersonville. 40 houses swept away at Yausse Point. many establishments and residences overflowed near and far from the bayou.
