Census estimates for 1920 show only small gains in Boston and St. Louis, risking Cleveland or Detroit becoming the fourth largest city. St. Louis at 773,000 this year rose 12.5 percent in a decade, the smallest growth since 1880. Estimates place St. Louis at about 796,933 and Boston at 796,156, with Boston’s exact 1920 figure not yet announced.

In St Johnsbury Vermont police search for a couple who left a 2 12 year old baby boy in their room at the St Johnsbury House last Friday. The child nicknamed Billy Foss was found by a chambermaid later and is under authority care. The couple registered as J and Martin with a Cambridge wife, and their whereabouts remain unknown. The baby appears well dressed and of good parentage, with Vermont milk supply the chief interest of authorities.
State detectives and local officers reported no clues to identify the auto yegses who dynamited the post office and general store safe at Leverett. They stole mail money orders and cash, set fire to the building and escaped. The loss totaled more than $6000 with about $200 in stamps and cash taken.
