Chinese Lottery Ring Busted in Boston Chinatown

Swimmer Escaped Prisoner McSwane Remains At Large

Robert McSwane who fled Deer Island House of Correction on Thursday remains at large with authorities believing he still hides on Deer Island. Guards and Winthrop police monitored Shirley Gut shores during every tidal window but have not located him. A fellow prisoner says McSwane saved food for days, fueling fears he planned to reach the mainland. His wife lives in Watertown and his Brighton home is on record. He was jailed for larceny and was to be arrested in Brighton on a warrant.

Dogs Bite Boy in Nashua Street Attack

A boy 10 years old, James Rowan, was attacked by a big dog and a terrier on Nashua Street in Somerville. The dogs, muzzled yet free to bite, were shot by Patrolman Lewis. owners are John Frizzell and Julia Lambert. The incident follows recent muzzle ordinance bites.

Racktrack Drill Boat Explodes During Lift Near Buoy 10

A drill boat Racktrack on a ledge near Buoy 10 exploded after four sticks of dynamite failed to ignite. The blast blew the bow from the barge. a second steam wipe caused another explosion. Crew members were stunned but not seriously hurt. Fire spread along the deck but tugs from Welcome Neponset Boston Towboat Company Commercial Towboat Doane Towboat fought the blaze. Fireboat 31 extinguished the fire after about 30 minutes. The Racktrack, owned by G H Breyman Bros of East Boston, suffered extensive damage.
