Shipping movements and vessel tracks off Cape May

On April 6 the brig Wetumpka from Mobile to New York and the bark Tartar from Mobile for Boston exchanged signals near Cape May, 36 miles west, with the schooner Matilda sailing from Eastport to Halifax. The times noted include April 6 at 4 PM.

Meteor Sightings Across Tennessee Area in 1845

A Murfreesboro letter from March 24 1845 reports a large meteor seen on March 20 around 10 PM directly overhead in the village with thunder like noise then booming artillery and musketry. The phenomenon was observed 50 miles south and 20 miles west of the locality, indicating a wide regional display.
