LASSONA April 12 A Turkish staff officer sent to Krania reports Greek regulars among invading forces have been positively proved and Greek officers may be in command. He says bands hide by day and attack Turkish troops at night. Edhem Pasha’s staff face attacks as Greeks reportedly suffer fifty two dead and twelve wounded on a patrol.
In Parliament Mr Balfour moved to adjourn over Easter. Sir Charles Dilke criticized the government for not allowing a debate on Crete policy. He argued the Liberal position has broad support in the eastern question and warned a blockade could disrupt Greece and the monarchy while failing to restore Crete's order.
The National Association of Democratic Clubs held its first meeting at the Ebbitt House with McMillin presiding. Members drafted an address to Democratic voters criticizing tariff plans and urging unity to elect a Democratic majority in the next Congress, based on Jeffersonian principles and bimetallism.
