Boston School Committee Considerations and Reforms
Boston school authorities discussed reforms including delaying shorthand as elective, opposing a reform school adjacent to a truant school, and approving Shorthand prohibition until September. They authorized wax dental impressions for 1000 children by Dr Walter Channing pending parental consent and funded natural history specimens for normal and grammar schools. An eight room Charlestown schoolhouse would cost 55000, and elections of teachers moved to June.
