A daughter files suit against Mrs. Mabel G. Greene of Brookline seeking $20,000 in cash and several valuable parcels of real estate. She alleges her father deserted her mother after two years of marriage, faked his death, and married Greene. The suit was sanctioned yesterday.
In a public statement yesterday Governor Cox warned the crime wave sweeping Massachusetts must stop. He urged courts to rely more on jail terms and less on probation to restore respect for the law after a spate of shootings across the state.

Providence April 11 Sam Johnson claims the world endurance record for running. He left New York City Hall at 7 o clock yesterday and reached Providence in 30 hours. He aims to reach Boston in under 40 hours, having eaten little since leaving New York and stopping briefly in New Haven New London and Providence.
William Sullivan age 30 of 19 Moulton Street Charlestown was struck on the Charlestown bridge by a motorist who fled. Witnesses obtained the vehicle number and Chelsea police investigate. Sullivan taken to Chelsea Memorial Hospital with a probable spine fracture and placed on the danger list.
Lawrence April 11. A jury in the local Superior Civil Court awarded John Tamshais $4100 for the alienation of his wife's affections in a suit against John Groswald, a prominent local contractor and Tamshais' former employer. The hearing exposed sharp accusations from both sides as testimony included the plaintiff's wife and Groswald's daughter.
A five year old boy named Edward Bojrsky was struck by an auto truck driven by Fred W. McGovern of Somerville while crossing a street and died of internal injuries at Middlesex Hospital. Police found no liability on the driver.
In Hartford on April 11 Alderman Anthony S Paonessa a Democrat from the sixth ward was elected mayor of New Britain by a 307 vote plurality over Republican ex mayor George A Quigley who had won the GOP nomination from incumbent George E Curtis New Britain though nominally Republican by about 2000 favored Democrats after wins in Hartford New Haven Bridgeport and Waterbury
Roxbury Crossing police investigate a robbery at Hogapion's grocery and meat shop on Centre Street. A burly stranger forced the proprietor into an ice chest, rifled the cash register, and took meat before escaping in a curbside car. The owner was found unharmed after the incident.
Sport flashes report a 8 to 7 Giants victory over Princeton. Other results include Cornell defeating Johns Hopkins 14 to 6 and Washington and Lee 10 over Pittsburgh 2. Box scores note multiple boxing bouts and a wrestling win by Hal Christensen over Cyclone Burns.
In Washington on April 11 Representative Woodruff of Wisconsin threatened impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Daugherty. The House also harshly criticized Secretary Weeks for allowing fraudulent transactions in the disposal of war goods.
Washington April 1 The steamship Leviathan undergoing reconstruction at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock has been renamed the President Harding Chairman Lasker announced The new name was chosen from Presidents and will be checked with the navy and TAoya's Register to avoid conflicts with existing names
The University of Wales will confer an honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Channes 2 Hughes the American Secretary of State for eminence as a statesman and for services toward securing international peace. Hughes is of Welsh origin.
Raoul Coutu ten year old son of Mr and Mrs Raymond Coutu of 129 Washington Street Central Falls lost his life when he fell into a large water hole near Ledge Street during street repairs at about 830 this morning. He was seen to fall but did not resurface.
Specimens of numerous rose varieties allegedly sent to Justice Edward P. Pierce of the Supreme Judicial Court from the Waban Rose Conservatories were shown before the legislative committee hearing charges against the judge. The roses’ fragrance filled Room 436 as details of the case were explored.

Boston police arrest and commit two men claiming to be Arabian Jews from Palestine who collected funds from Hebrew workers.
