Arthur F. Walker, 40, of Somerville, was killed last night when drawn into the vortex created by express No. 244 at East Somerville station. He stood near the edge, was crushed under wheels, and died minutes later on a passing train to North station. He was married.
Deplores Gov. Guild illness and endorses him for Vice President. Calls for personal liberty for all and tariff changes. Praises island dependencies governance and Roosevelt's trusts policy. Urges merchant marine legislation.

Mrs. Alice Webb divorced wife of Brodie L. Duke, notable tobacco magnate, was arrested in Chicago on a warrant accusing her of defrauding a hotel company with fraudulent checks. She remained in custody at Harrison Street police station in lieu of bail.
President Roosevelt voiced high gratification over Massachusetts convention reports showing Republican temper. He said the sentiment would help Taft reach the nomination, declaring May 1 would see the contest end with Taft facing no serious opposition.
Harvard defeated Yale in the Yale Harvard freshman debate held in College Hall New Haven. The topic was Resolved that a national divorce law is desirable with Yale supporting the affirmative and Harvard the negative.
William M. Clemens, the Post’s famed New York detective, questions Peter Downey, Cambridge motorman, and interviews Annie Mullins’ relatives and acquaintances. He deems Downey to be wholly eliminated from the case and suggests Mullins may have had a secret lover whose name remained unknown to employers and relatives.

In Enfield on April 10 a log jumped from a portable saw mill chute owned by William Bishop at Smith's Village. Bishop and 17 year old Miss Wilhelmina Weston of Greenwich were instantly killed. Three other young women and Mrs. Bishop escaped unharmed.
Mrs. Bishop and four young women from Greenwich visited a local saw mill this afternoon. A log wedged in the chute as logs rushed in, another log struck Bishop and Miss Weston, killing both instantly. Bishop was Greenwich postmaster and longtime lumber figure. Miss Weston was the daughter of Daniel C. Weston, Village Hotel proprietor.
The forecast calls for Saturday to be fair and warmer in Boston and vicinity. Sunday remains fair but cooler with southwest to west winds. in New England showers Saturday and fair, slightly cooler on Sunday with brisk winds from the southwest to northwest.
