Stetson Case Seeks Dower Rights in John Stetson Jr Estate

The demandant Mrs Adah Richmond Stetson v John Stetson was ordered by Chief Justice Mason to file specifications detailing the time place and person of her marriage to the late John Stetson Jr The writ seeks dower in real estate held by Stetson Jr at death but not in the name of his father who denies she was his lawful wife and thus entitled to one third of the lands involved.

David Hammond Dies After Heart Disease Fight

David Hammond died of heart disease at the Plaza Hotel area after a career in hotel service. He served as steward of the Gilsey House from 1872 to 1880 and recently leased the Plaza Hotel with his brother Frederick. Frederick fell ill in Boston and underwent an operation. David attended but did not recover. He was a widower with one daughter.
