Death by own action near Endicott Peabody estate Salem

The body of an unknown man, apparently dead by his own action, was found on the Endicott Peabody estate near a harbor inlet by two walkers. The body lay face down, decayed around the head, with a rope around the neck and half the rope found in a tree branch. Identification was unlikely.

Unknown Body Found Floating Near Malden Bridge

A man’s body was recovered from the water near Malden bridge by the drawtender yesterday morning. He wore a mixed coat and vest, black trousers, long leather boots, and a white shirt collar with necktie, had red hair, and stood about five feet seven inches tall, weighing roughly 160 pounds. The corpse, badly decomposed, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital morgue for examination by Dr. Harris.

Engine Derailed Near North Brookfield in Night Incident

The evening North Brookfield line train on the Boston and Albany railroad jumped the track at 6 o'clock tonight two miles from North Brookfield. The engine fell into a 25 foot ditch injuring engineer Hallowell who suffered severe injuries while the fireman was unharmed. Cars remained on the roadbed though some forward cars left the rails. A wrecking train from Springfield was dispatched and expects to clear the tracks by morning.

The Flying Squadron is ordered to sea tonight as Spain tensions rise and the Navy plans to deter hostilities. Cabinet Meeting Sets Plan for President's Message

Washington reports the President will send a message to Congress at noon tomorrow. The second cabinet meeting focused on a possible addendum reacting to Spain's note announcing an unconditional armistice. Officials said the update does not change the main message.
