Funeral for Dr Roche Held at Sacred Heart Church

The funeral for Dr Thomas Francis Roche, Deer Island resident physician for fourteen years, will be held at 9:45 this morning at the Church of the Sacred Heart with a solemn high mass. He died Sunday noon after a period of illness and heart trouble. Born in Watertown in 1862, he lived in Boston as a child, studied in Canada, and graduated from the University of New York in 183. He practiced in New Bedford before his Deer Island appointment. He was a Democrat, unmarried, and lived with his mother at 4 Marion Street. four sisters survive, including Catherine Roche.

Captain Codman Burial Funeral at Trinity Church

Six nephews of the late Captain John Codman served as pallbearers at his funeral held at 1 PM yesterday at Trinity Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert Codman Jr and Rev. Dr. E B Winchester Donald assisted in the service. A large gathering attended as the choir sang There Is a Land of Pure Delight It Heard a Voice From Heaven and Forever With the Lord. The body was interred in the Forest Hills Cemetery and ashes deposited in the family tomb in Dorchester.
