Henry J. Turcott a private serving a long term at Charlestown naval prison attempted to escape with gunfire from guards. He fled toward the harbor but was trapped as gates blocked entry and several officers pursued. The attempt ended without success.
Ex Senator Nelson W Aldrich told a Real Estate and Auction Board dinner that New Yorkers and a few brave men helped avert the 1907 panic. He praised the Banking Commission work and urged stronger laws to prevent future crises, predicting the U S would lead world finance with business cooperation.

In Stoneham eight men faced Judge Maguire after a late Thursday poker game at the Pastime Club. Detective Wellman Taylor posed as a player, drew a revolver, and ordered the men to surrender as Chief Green and Detective Perkins raided the room. All eight paid fines in Woburn Court this morning.
William Bowman of Arlington, age 40, was killed at Alewifebrook in Somerville yesterday while chasing a gust blown hat. He fell into the water and his body was recovered by police. Bowman and his two brothers ran a slaughtering business in Arlington.
