Officer Herbert Lynde of Station 14, riding with mounted police, was thrown when his horse stumbled while pursuing a runaway dog cart. He sustained a sprain and cuts and was treated at the Fanueil House in Brighton. The dog cart occupants fled, refusing to provide their names.

A man was robbed of $32 and his stock and assaulted with a heavy club just outside the city last night. He was knocked down and kicked in the stomach, leaving him in critical condition. A motorman on an electric car found him unconscious on the track and brought him to the city hospital.
The British ship Dundrennan Palmer, from Chittagong, bound for London, was wrecked off Strais Point on the southern coast of Africa. The loss is total for ship and cargo. Three crewmen were saved. the others are missing.
April 7. Edwin A. Douglass, a colored lawyer, has been appointed registrar of voters by Mayor Parker in New Bedford. The action elevates Douglass to oversee voter registrations as part of the city administration.
President Cleveland denounces a Salem Mass speech and a later interview as an outrage and wholesale calumny. He says ministers and newspapers collaborate to spread falsehoods about his conduct, praising American patience and the public’s judgment.

Timothy Reagan and John Cawley of Yankee Village Edgeworth clashed this afternoon in Malden. Cawley stabbed Reagan in the leg as he tried to walk away. Reagan was taken to the police station for treatment. Cawley was arrested and jailed, to be tried in District Court tomorrow with Reagan as a witness.
The funeral for Mrs Paran Stevens will be held tomorrow morning at Calvary Church New York. Rev Henry Y Satterlee will officiate with pallbearers Chauncey M Depew James W Parker W W Sherman Colonel William Jay Thomas F Cushing Richard Irvin and W P Douglass. The cedar casket bears Marietta Reed Stevens died April 3 1895 and burial will follow at Mt Auburn Cemetery Cambridge with the husband.
TERRE HAUTE Ind April 7 President Debs of the American Railway Union returns from a Pacific coast tour with 2200 new members in seven days and says the union has been reorganized along Northern system lines. Directors Goodwin Hogan and Kelcher push local unions in Western districts as strikes last year are reassessed. Debs cites wage cuts on the Southern Pacific fueling discontent with old brotherhoods.
