The senate voted to prevent consideration of Attorney-General Allen’s bill to grant expanded power to investigate stock investment schemes. Members left the chamber amid procedural clashes, and the rules committee which opposed admission was cited by President McKnight. Allen condemned the vote, urging the judiciary committee to review the merits. Representatives and senators criticized the action as harming public protection. The rules committee members included Prescott, Gibbs, Hardy, Dahlburg, and Foley.
