Benton Claims Wide Victory Across Massachusetts Delegates

Colonel Everett C. Benton announced sweeping delegate gains claiming 170 of 201 in Boston and wins in Haverhill Lowell and Belmont. He reported 1619 delegates in the state convention with over 1400 tallied and praised the Republican party for answering the call to duty.

Foss claims majority of Boston delegates pledged

Mr. Foss asserts a majority of Boston delegates are pledged to his cause. He cites 31 pledged locally and about 200 outside Boston, with more expected beyond Benton’s claimed 1400. He says the fight will continue at the convention and that defeat is not admitted.

Harris Dexter Admits Killing Younger Brother in Accidental Shooting

Harris Dexter, 14, confessed to killing his 11 year old brother Parker on March 27 in their home. He claimed the shooting was accidental after taking a revolver from his father’s room and firing at Parker in the bathroom. He cleaned the gun and hid it before fleeing to the Lothrop house and reporting a masked intruder.

Slugger Attack in Roxbury Targets Domestic Worker

Mary Nee, a domestic at 204 Boston street, Roxbury, was seized by a man on East Cottage street at 10 p.m. He choked her until she weakened, robbed her of a pocketbook containing 94, then fled. Nee describes the assailant as 25, 6 feet 10 inches, dark complexion, dark mustache, wearing black clothes.

Shake up at Station 3 unsettles West End patrols
