John W Cottem of 53 Hancock Street is jailed after attempting to pass a $1500 lumber note at Andrew F Leatherbee’s Albany Street yard. Michael Keyes of South Boston and Henry D O Kurriss of Loxbury are also arrested on forgery and uttering charges with linked notes from John Stewart & Co of New York. The case centers on a forged note used to obtain lumber and involved multiple signers and brokers. Keyes posted $1000 bail. hearing set for April 12.
