Memorial Hall planned for Boston by G. A. R.

At the 50th Massachusetts G. A. R. encampment in Faneuil Hall Boston approved a Memorial Hall to cost 150000 for the Hall of Flags. The plan earned both strong support and opposition with funds to be raised by a new committee. The encampment also urged a Red Cross memorial for Clara Barton and discussed future national encampments. Six hundred delegates attended as the event wrapped with a large dinner at Ford Hall.

The Boston Musicians' Protective Association executive committee voted to forbid playing medleys in which The Star Spangled Banner is only part of the set. Outfield Switch Shapes Cleveland’s 1913 Lineup

The 1913 Indians aim for a balanced batting order with predominantly right-handed hitters. Manager Fohl could field a lineup with only one left-handed batter, shifting outfielders and infielders to cover both sides. Howard’s switch-hitting adds flexibility to replace Smith or Graney as needed.

Local friends of Thomas E K Leyden of Somerville plan to apply for a permit to lecture in Newburyport either Saturday or Sunday amid a riot at Haverhill. Odd Case Involves Raleigh Aitchison Contract Puzzle

Raleigh Aitchison, a southpaw pitcher for Milwaukee this season at 1825 dollars, will receive the difference up to 4000 from Brooklyn under an ironclad 1916 end contract. The Brooklyn critic calls him a puzzling arbitration, noting his strong IL record and early 1914 Brooklyn start. Uncle Wilbert Robinson praised him as one of the brainiest young pitchers seen, influencing a two-year deal at the time.

Aitchison Fails to Impress in Major League Return

Aitchison, paid 4000 annually, failed to make good after return from Chattanooga where he also underperformed. Despite apparent talent and motion, batters hit hard and nothing he pitched was effective. He risks remaining a perennial minor league star unable to sustain success in the majors.
